Credit Repair? What exactly is it and how does it work?

We are happy that you asked! Due to the fact that we regularly receive questions about who we are, what is the process, and how much does something like this cost? We have decided to compile a list of the most commonly frequently asked questions, geared towards educating you as quickly as possible, with the least amount of effort needed on your end. Please review the questions and answers below, and hopefully a majority, if not ALL of YOUR questions can be answered as well. Enjoy!

The credit repair/restoration process is quite simple, in regard to the method of approach. It is the detail in which we challenge the bureaus is the more complex part. 

However, to get straight to the point, the process begins as such:

  1. You, the client, submits and application on our website for service. 
  2. Once the application has been received, our processing team begins work IMMEDIATELY to create your new client dashboard on our website, as well as starts the process of importing your latest credit reports and scores, so that we can provide to you a credit analysis of your reports. Here is where we break down in VERY fine detail exactly what is going on with your credit, how it is impacting you, and the steps we will begin taking to help improve your credit profiles with all three major credit reporting agencies. 
  3. Once we have completed your audit of your credit, and have obtained your photo ID’s for proof of identification, we will begin submitting the challenges directly to the bureaus to begin the investigation process.
  4. Now that the bureaus are working on the investigations, the FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act) permits them to take up to 30-45 days to completed the investigations. In many cases, it is 30 days or less.
  5. Once the investigations have been completed, the bureaus will notify you via mail or email their investigation results. Here is where we will revisit your profile to see what changes have occurred over the previous month. After we review the results, we are looking for which items/accounts were either deleted, repaired or removed. For any items that were “verified”, we will then follow back up with both the bureaus, as well as the creditor to see validation of the accounts, until we reach the ultimate goal of correcting EVERY negative account listed on your credit reports
  6. This process will continue month after month, until you are happy with the results.
You actually have the EASIEST part of this entire process! Your job is very simple.

When we submit disputes and challenges on your behalf, the bureaus and creditors will ALWAYS respond directly back to YOU! They will never send us ANY of your reports and investigations, and that is solely for the purpose of your own privacy. 

When you receive these reports and/or correspondences back, we simply ask that you notify us via email or fax of what the mail/email was. Once we receive these notifications from you, your Case Manager will then review the documents, inform/update you of any changes or notations, and then take all of the necessary actions needed to proceed with a follow up dispute.

Great question. Every case, for every client, is EXTREMELY different. There are NO two cases that are alike, because no two individuals are alike. Therefore, results for everyone may vary. Some clients receive 100% deletions in 30-45 days, while some may see 80-90% deletion statistics in 6-8 months. It truly depends on what type of accounts are on your credit How old are they? How much do you owe? All of these things come into play when challenging items on your credit. With that being said, a majority of our clients see an overall 40-60% deletion rate in JUST 30 days or less, and our average client is with us for 4-6 months. Within that time frame, these clients have obtained new credit, have much higher credit scores, and have a better understanding of how to manage their credit on a day to day basis. 

In addition, we offer a valuable time-saving service, known as the Platinum Program, which can be applied to any of our custom programs to expedite your credit report repair process.

To be quite honest, we can dispute ANY and EVERYTHING! There truly is no item that is off limits, and there is NO item that we have NOT been able to either delete, repair, or remove, as long as the account in question is misleading, unverifiable, or inaccurate. Federal Law requires that all disputes be submitted in good faith. With that being said, we dispute accounts based the details provided by you to your account manager, in order to compile the best and legal dispute letter need to challenge the data being reported. All in all, yes, we can dispute any account that you request, it’s just that some accounts are much more challenging than others and take a lot more effort and time to remove.

Oryzon Does Not Charge in Advance for Credit Repair Services. In compliance with the Credit Repair Organizations Act, we only charge for credit repair services after they have been fully rendered. Your first payment to Oryzon is called a “First Work Fee”, or “Document and Processing/Audit Fee”, and is made after we have completed the identified services relating to this payment as detailed in the service agreement, usually billed within 7 days. Each monthly payment thereafter covers the monthly services detailed in the service agreement fully rendered during the previous month. Your monthly payments will begin one month after your first work fee has been collected.

Repairing your credit just takes knowing the correct process needed in order to challenge accounts, as well as time and persistence. Oryzon Credit focuses on removing inaccurate, misleading and unverifiable information from your credit profile. As Oryzon is engaged in the dispute process with the credit bureaus, your score may change periodically, especially since 35% of your score is based on your entire credit history. Since we are working to correct negative items within your credit history, this is likely to have a positive effect on your scores! When disputing ‘negative’ information on your credit report, the credit bureaus will remove the item(s) in question until it is verified, modified, or deleted. Since we are disputing primarily ‘negative’ items on your report, your score may increase during the process because the negative item is temporarily removed until the investigation is over. This temporary score is not necessarily an indicator of your final credit score. (Disputing personal information such as an incorrect address or date of birth will not typically affect your credit score.) Upon completion of the dispute process, your credit report will then show the new score. Keep in mind that each credit bureau has different criteria for determining your score, which is why your score varies from bureau to bureau.
Scores and point increases vary from case to case. At Oryzon Credit, we like to put a huge emphasis on ‘Credit Report’, versus ‘Credit Score’, simply due to the fact that clients who lack the necessary credit accounts and types, will not see as much of a credit score increase as someone who already possess multiple lines of positive credit. We do see that 75-90% of ALL of our clients will receive a score increase within their very first month, ranging anywhere from 25 points to 200 points!! Again, these results will vary due to how the negative accounts that were on the credit file were impacting the credit score. For clients who do not have much, or ANY positive credit at all, the goal is to remove the negative accounts first, then focus on rebuilding and re-establishing new clean credit, which will result in higher scores reporting month after month. 
As a consumer, it is always in your best interest to pay off any balances that you owe. When disputing items and accounts on your credit report, it is always easier to pursue deletions when accounts have been paid off (zero balance). It is advantageous to pay your accounts off because it facilitates the dispute process and further collection activities are ceased. As a collection tactic, creditors prefer to invest their time and efforts in verifying negative information that still has a balance due. As you are paying off your creditors ask them to send you a confirmation letter that the account has a zero balance. Important Note: If a creditor or collector agrees to settle an account for less than the full amount, have them send you a written statement to protect yourself from further collection activity and unethical collectors harassing you for the original balance later.
When reviewing your credit to decide if you should keep an account open or closed you need to consider its effect on your credit score. It is good to only have about 3-5 open credit cards so when you decide to close some of them you will want to close the accounts that were most recently opened. Older accounts have more payment history and closing them usually results in lowering your credit score. However, what you choose to do with these accounts once they have been paid off is up to you.

Another item to keep in mind when you are paying off credit accounts is that credit card balances over 50 percent of the credit limit negatively affects your credit score, so try to keep your balances below half of your credit limit. Naturally, having accounts that are paid off will not hurt your credit.

A charge off is a credit account that you did not pay and then the creditor wrote the account off as a loss. A settlement is an account that went past due, maybe even charged off, and then you negotiate a pay-off amount that is less than the full balance due. Once you pay that negotiated amount in full then the account reports as a settlement. Credit bureaus sometimes ‘generalize’ and will argue that ‘Settlements’ and ‘Charge Off’ are the same, when in fact, they are not. It is up to us to insist they investigate these items and change the incorrect information, or if they cannot verify the information within 30 days, then they need to delete the item. This is one of your rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. We remain steadfast in pursuing these items.
Credit scores are used by creditors to measure the ‘risk factor’ of a consumer who is applying for a loan or credit line. The credit score was put in place to reflect the financial responsibility of a consumer, through past and present credit use. Creditors use the score to ‘predict’ how a consumer will treat their potential financial obligation.

As a ‘snapshot’ of your financial history, your credit report is essentially your ‘financial fingerprint’ and contains information that can be grouped into the five categories:

  • Payment History – 35% (This is what Oryzon Credit works on)
  • Amount Owed – 30%
  • Length of Credit History – 15%
  • New Credit – 10%
  • Types of Credit in Use – 10%
The three main credit bureaus are: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. The credit bureaus gather, store, and sell information about consumer’s credit histories to help establish a consumer’s credit worthiness. The credit bureaus are private for-profit companies that gather the information about consumers and then sell it to businesses that are legally permitted to see your credit report.
